It’s no secret that the economy is struggling and the automakers are going through some rough times. But that’s no reason to postpone or cancel this year’s North American International Auto Show. That’s the feeling that the domestic automakers have this year. They have just decided to tone down their displays for the 2009 NAIAS. Your NJ Chevrolet dealership agrees with the “less is more” attitude considering the current climate.
Some of the theatrics that Chevrolet and GM have sacrificed for a “less is more” appearance this week include “floor risers, live music and other big-ticket items for its typically souped up 100,000-square foot display.” Instead, officials decided to go with a simpler appearance with less fanfare and a stronger focus on the products that are being unveiled. But that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to grab the public’s attention.
Jennifer Granholm, Michigan’s current governor, attended the event and spent a great deal of time at the GM display. She marched around the Chevrolet Volt and held a sign that said, “Here to stay.” In addition to that, Detroit Tigers announcer Mario Impemba talked about the cars as if he were calling a game in the World Series, causing people to look and take notice.
While you can experience the future of the auto industry at the NAIAS, your Lumberton area Chevrolet dealer wants you to check out the present technology and features. Visit a local Chevy dealer today and see what you can start driving today!
