Friends Don’t Let Friends Text and Drive

After leaving your local NJ dealership with a new or used Nissan car, your excitement might make you want to text your friends and tell them about your new purchase. But that’s one of the worst things you can do if you’re trying to drive at the same time. While the argument continues about talking on your phone while driving, few people can argue about the safety of texting while driving. In fact, about 90 percent of the drivers on the road today support laws that would punish drivers for engaging in such a behavior.

Minnesota has become the latest state to join in the anti-DTW (Driving While Texting) laws. Although the state is more than a thousand miles away from the NJ dealership nearest you, the new laws still have an impact on your texting.

According to Cheri Marti, the Director of Traffic Safety in Minnesota, the new laws prohibit any driver from reading any written communication while driving. This includes any cell phones or PDA devices. Even if you’re stopped at a stop sign or red light, drivers are not allowed to read any communications on their electronic devices. Fines could cost about $300 if you’re caught doing any of these forbidden activities.

Your local NJ dealership and Nissan dealer cares about you and your safety. Don’t do anything that endangers yourself or other drivers sharing the road with you. Everybody just wants to get home to see their family at night and we can all make that happen.
