Nissan hasn’t done a major redesign on its flagship Maxima sedan in more than four years. But at the automaker’s Tennessee assembly plant last week, workers rolled out the new and improved 2009 Nissan Maxima. Dozens of workers cheered as it rolled off the production line and the automaker made the event into a celebration, complete with a banner cutting and a speech from Nissan Division VP and GM Al Castignetti.
Although the article’s headline implied the 2009 Maxima was a car that younger drivers would enjoy, the automaker’s target audience for this model is actually married men in the 40s who make $110,000. I suppose if that’s their idea of younger drivers, that’s fine with me. I feel old already and I’m in my early 30s. Thanks, Nissan!
The new Maxima has a V6 engine with nearly 300 horsepower. It can go from zero to 60 in six seconds flat if you use premium fuel in it. The car also comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, but you can also get 19-inch alloys if size matters that much to you. Another thing the 40-year-old drivers will like is the optional dual-panel moon roof. A single-panel is standard, but the dual-panel is twice as nice.
Although the target audience for the Maxima is a 40-something male, you’ll enjoy one of these cars regardless of your age or gender. The cars go on sale on June 26, so don’t forget to visit your local Nissan dealer that day to get your “pick of the litter.”
