After-Christmas sales are sometimes some of the best sales of the year. This year, that’s even truer because retailers are becoming more desperate to get your business with the recent downturn in the economy. “There’s not a lot of time for retailers to make up for what’s been lost,” said a spokesperson for the National Retail Federation. While post-Christmas sales typically account for about 10-15 percent of the season’s overall sales, some say this year that percentage will jump as people are waiting for the better deals.
Stores opened early this morning to catch the early risers. “People can come in from 7 a.m. to noon and they are going to find great deals,” said Tom Aiello, a spokesperson for Sears. “It’s like Black Friday.”
